Retention and Mentor Coordinator

Carlos Frazier has worked for the University of Northern Iowa for the past 5 years starting with the Educational Talent Search program, to his current role of Retention and Mentor Coordinator for the Diversity, Inclusion & Social Justice department.  Carlos enjoys helping students meet their educational goals.

Aside from being a Retention and Mentor Coordinator for DIS, Carlos coached high school basketball at East Waterloo for 20 seasons.  Carlos was part of a successful program where he helped lead the program to 7 tournament appearances, 3 Final Four appearances, and 1 state Championship in 2003.

Carlos was born and raised in Waterloo.  Carlos graduated from West Waterloo High school and went on to play basketball at the University of Northern Iowa, where he obtained his B.A. Upon completion of his degree, Carlos began working for youth agencies in the area, trying to help develop our youth.

Carlos also has his A.A. degree in photography.  He earned this degree in 2014 from Hawkeye College Professional Photography program.  Carlos love to document senior portraits, sports photography family photos, and creative photography.

Carlos has one daughter, Bianca Frazier she will be a graduate of Iowa State University with her B.A. in Industrial Tech Design.  Carlos has 2 brothers, and 1 sister, and also has a pug named Tank that is now 6 years old.
